Standing in front of 200+ students, I feel the enthusiasm emanating from them. For a special assembly. For me, the visiting author. For reading. For life!Dressed in pajamas for Read Across America, students volunteered answers to my questions and leaped at the chance to help me on stage with demonstrations and skits.
I never worry about keeping their attention. My books do that for me. We discuss ideas, revision, research, and yes, reading! From pre-K through fifth grade, the atmosphere is electrifying!
