Writing That Next Book

I’m writing my next book, but I’m stuck in chapter 11. The characters have already told me how the book ends, but not what happens in chapter 11. What do they do? How do I decide between a couple of different options? More importantly, how do I know which “voices” to listen to? Seems like there are several opinions vying for attention in my head.

So I write this blog instead. And think about Eudora Welty’s quote: “Every story I write teaches me how to write it — but not how to write the next one.”

Maybe I’ll find the answer in this morning’s work-out…
