Sid Fleischman was one of the greats in children’s literature, a weaver of stories that won our hearts. He worked up until his death, selling his final picture book manuscript only weeks before. His novel, The Whipping Boy, won the Newbery Medal and Humbug Mountain was a National Book Award finalist . I was fortunate enough to speak with Sid Fleishman before his death about his career, his interest in magic and the great fan mail he received from readers. His profile may be found on my website.
